★ COMMON QUESTIONS ★
Straight answers before you start
Do you guarantee my fine will be cancelled?
No, and we never will. The final decision always sits with the issuing authority — we have no influence over what they decide.
What we do give you is a free, upfront assessment of how strong your case is — strong, moderate or limited grounds — before you pay anything. Then we help you put it forward clearly in a structured letter tailored to your state and the offence. We'll be honest: if your grounds are weak, we'll tell you.
Is this legal advice?
No. Fight My Fine is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We're a self-help template tool — you are the author and sender of every letter we draft.
If you want actual legal advice, contact your state's free legal service: LawAccess NSW, Victoria Legal Aid, Legal Aid Queensland, or your state equivalent.
What fines do you cover?
Parking, speeding, red light, mobile phone use, seatbelt, toll (fine-stage only) and reckless driving fines — across all eight Australian states and territories (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT, NT).
If your fine doesn't fit one of these categories, tell us — we'll add it to our roadmap and let you know when it's covered.
How much does it cost?
From $10.50. Minimum $10.50 on smaller fines, then 10% of your fine, capped at $49.50 on larger ones.
You only pay once we've confirmed the fine details and you're happy to proceed. You can walk away before that with no charge.
What's the process, step by step?
- Upload your fine. A photo or PDF works. We read the issuing authority, offence, date, location, vehicle, amount, and deadline. You confirm or correct any details before continuing.
- Answer a short questionnaire. Tailored to your state and the type of fine. Plain English questions, your own words. Takes a few minutes.
- See your case strength. Before you pay, we show how strong your grounds are — strong, moderate or limited — and recommend whether to dispute or ask for leniency. If it's weak, we'll tell you.
- Confirm and pay. From $10.50 — minimum $10.50, then 10% of your fine, capped at $49.50. You only pay once you're ready to proceed — you can walk away before this point at no cost.
- Download your letter. Word document, ready to send. Review it, make any small edits if you like, then send it to the issuing authority yourself (by email or post — we tell you where).
The whole thing takes about 10 minutes. You remain the author and sender — we're the tool that puts the letter together.
Can I use this if my fine goes to court?
No. Our letters are only for the dispute or review stage — the initial response you send to the issuing authority asking them to withdraw or reduce your fine.
They are not prepared for court proceedings. If your matter has escalated to a court hearing, or if you've been formally charged with a more serious offence (reckless driving, drink driving, repeat offences, etc.), you should see a qualified lawyer.
Free options include LawAccess NSW, Victoria Legal Aid, Legal Aid Queensland, and your state equivalent.
Does having photo evidence help?
Yes — significantly. Photos and other evidence make a dispute much stronger. Useful examples:
- A photo of the faded, missing, or unclear sign
- The actual location and any obstructions
- Dashcam footage of the incident
- Receipts, job sheets, or appointment confirmations supporting your account
- Photos of medical or emergency context
You don't upload these to us — they stay on your device. Instead, describe them clearly in the notes section of the questionnaire (e.g. "I have three photos of the sign showing the writing is faded beyond legibility, taken on the same day"). The letter we put together will reference them, and you attach them yourself when you send the letter to the authority.
What if I lose? Do I get a refund?
No. Your fee pays for preparing your letter — a digital product delivered as soon as you confirm — not for the outcome of your case. The final decision rests with the issuing authority, so we can't refund based on whether they accept it. You see our free case-strength assessment before you pay anything, so there are no surprises.
What we will fix or refund is a problem on our end: if the letter has obvious errors, misses details you gave us, or fails to generate after payment, email us at contact@fightmyfine.com.au and we'll put it right. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Is my data safe?
We only collect what we need to draft your letter. The photo of your fine is deleted from our servers 90 days after your letter is generated. You don't need to create an account, and we don't share your data with marketers or third parties.
Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and how we use it. We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What if I was actually in the wrong — can you still help?
Yes. Many letters aren't disputes — they're leniency requests. If you accept what happened (a moment of unawareness, a parking miscalculation, an honest emergency), the tool can help you put together a letter asking the authority to use their discretion and issue a warning or reduced penalty instead.
Some cases are stronger than others — and we'll always be upfront about that with you. We're not here to help anyone dodge genuine wrongdoing. We're here to make sure every Australian can put their case forward clearly, no matter what kind of fine they've received.
